Mirissa Beach - Sri Lanka

Mirissa is a clean and hidden beach located 39 Km away from Galle. There are two bays on the beach and It has a small island located between the bay which created after the tsunami. You can walk to the island from the water and it is ideal to take photos. Mirissa is safe and less crowded compared to the other beaches in down south of Sri Lanka. Mirissa is ideal destination for snorkelling and surfing lovers in Sri Lanka.

Easyest way to travel Mirissa beach in southen coast in Sri lanka is by Tran, it will be a  3 to 4 hour ride by train.

Train ticket price from colombo (capital city of sri lanka)  to Mirissa town in southern province.

1st Class - LKR 400.00
2nd Class - LKR 220.00
3rd Class - LKR 120.00

I always recommend 3rd class because 2nd and 1 are always filled with travellers who are going to galle and matara.

Which has nice scenes because it always goes from the coastal side and you can view beautiful beach scenes and sun downs. You can pass Hikkaduwa Bentota kaluthara Waduuwa Beruwala Ambalangoda Unawatuna Galle beaches if you site on the right side seat of the train.

You can get down from weligama railway station and take a bus or a tuk tuk  and its a just 10 minutes ride from Weligama to Mirissa beach. Between Galle and matara road You can always search for Mirissa beach from google map its easy to find.

I do not recommend to get down from Mirissa railway station to go to mirissa beach.

Also if you want to go quickly from a public transport best option is to go thriugh the southern express high way from colombo (maharagama) to matara. there are high way buses from Maharagama to matara. and from matara you can get a weligama or galle bus and you can get down from the mirissa beach. you can always ask for help from a decent local person who is good at english. but be careful. dont trust them too much.
